"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9
From the time I was in high school, I wanted to be a teacher. The Lord’s gracious providence opened doors and laid the path for me to fulfill that desire for over 30 years. It is an honor to continue that calling at Caritas.
God has provided me the opportunity to teach at two traditional Christian schools in Nebraska and Arizona, a Hybrid school in California, and now at Caritas. No less important were the years I homeschooled three of my four children for the better part of 12 years.
I was raised on a dairy in the southwest of Minnesota by my godly parents in the same house in which my mother was raised. We (my three brothers and I) all attended Christian school and church was part of our life. Though there have been challenges to my faith, I never knew a time that I was not a Christian.
After college I moved to Nebraska, taught at a five day a week elementary school of fifty to sixty students, married, and had my first child (Lane.) It was a joyous time in that small farming town. Sadly, the Lord took my first husband at age 33. But in time, I met Dale, moved to Bakersfield CA, and had three more children (Allison, Sara, and Grant.) Dale adopted Lane. In 2017, along with our dog and cat, we all packed up and headed to Arizona for Dale’s work. We attend Reformation Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Apache Junction.
For me, the favorite part of teaching is showing students God’s sovereignty over all of life and creation. I firmly believe, to paraphrase the late R. C. Sproul, that God’s promises are fulfilled because not one single molecule in this universe is running around loose, totally free of God’s sovereignty.
In my free time I enjoy worshiping at church, spending time with my family, scraping-booking, glamping, hiking, reading, and playing board games.
